Help us grow!

Dear alumni and friends of Georgia Tech Crew,

We're excited to share some great news - Georgia Tech Crew has the opportunity to row closer to home! The team has the opportunity to row and store small boats near campus, but we need your help to get them on the water. Can you imagine a 15-minute drive to the river? Help us make it happen!

Our Opportunity

Georgia Tech Crew has been given permission to row from a new property in Mableton, GA, in addition to the boathouse in Roswell. The site can support a small fleet of singles and an appropriately-sized building for storage, perfect for a few practices a week. So instead of 45 minutes (or more) to every practice, this new location cuts that time to one-third - less time in traffic means more time for school and life, which means happier and more successful rowers!

The long-term potential of this location is also worth mentioning. We’ve included details on the site, but in summary, the property is a private development with interest in helping support a boathouse. While there are a lot of conversations needed to properly evaluate the real potential of such an arrangement, the short-term value of access to riverfront property so close to campus is undeniable.

Our Goal

To make this possible we need to raise $30,000 to purchase eight flat-bottom singles with oars to row, plus storage and security, at the new location. Its position on the river - in-town, on undredged water - makes this type of boat a wise investment. With your tax-deductible contribution, you're not just helping the rowers this year, but helping them keep those rowers next year to build on the teams' recent successes.

How you can help

You can make tax-deductible contributions to this campaign by using a credit or debit card online or mailing a check. We've included basic information below (with more details on the site) but please contact any of us directly if you have any questions.

  • Online - go to give.gtcrewalumni.org and give through our Google Wallet system.
  • Mail - Make checks payable to "GTCA Charitable" with "singles campaign" in the memo. Please mail checks to the Alumni House address:

190 North Avenue

Atlanta, Ga 30313

We’d like to show our appreciation for your contribution with the following thank-you gifts:

Contribution Thank-you Gift

$30 T-shirt

$300 Engraved glass mug

$3,000 Named Boat

For a combined donation of $3000 or more, a group can collectively name a boat. There is a field to specify your group on the checkout page. The other gifts (t-shirts and mugs) will only be given on an individual basis.

The team is growing and continuing its history of success, and we see this addition as a great way to invest in sustaining both. Last year’s novice men’s squad was greater in number than it has ever been, with several of those men breaking erg test records. The novice women, too, had a great year, bringing home a gold medal at the SIRA Regatta! This great foundation for the team of 2013 and beyond needs your help to make this opportunity a reality.

Help us keep the momentum going!

Sincerely,
