GT Closes Out Head Race Season Strong, One More Race this Fall

Georgia Tech Crew had another strong showing at this year’s Head of the South Regatta in Augusta, GA on Saturday, November 14, 2009. Of the 10+ colleges represented there, GT finished second, just behind Jacksonville, a varsity program, by only ten points for the collegiate team point trophy.

Again Tech saw strong showings from both the men and the women, bringing home 13 medals overall. The women impressed, taking home gold in the Club 8+, Lightweight 8+, and Lightweight 4+, and silver in the Women’s Champ 8+. Them men also took silver in a close race with Jacksonville in the Men’s Champ 8+, in addition to medals in the Champ 1x, Champ 4+, and Lightweight 8+.

While this was the last head race of the year for GT, the team has one more race left, a sprint race, to get them pumped up for Spring. Georgia Tech will be hosting a scrimmage against the University of Florida in Roswell, GA on Saturday, November 21. Although Emory backed out of the scrimmage, the teams still anticipate a very exciting race.
