The 2011 USRowing Club Nationals Championships were held in Indianapolis, Indiana, on July 13-17. Over 1500 rowers from around the country came to compete for a national championship, and on Sunday, July 17, several members of the summer sculling development camp, CBASS (Curt Browder All Star Sculling), earned just that.

Coached by GT coach, Curt Browder, and rowing as a part of the Atlanta Rowing Club (ARC), two GT students, David Judah and Matthew Watters brought home the gold on Sunday in the Mens Intermediate 4x. Their hard work at the training camp has really paid off; up until this summer, Watters had never sculled regularly and had never competed in a sculling event! The two teammates also won gold in the Mens 4+ at this year's Dad Vail Regatta and took home silver in the same event in this year's ACRA Championship Regatta. David Judah also won in the Mens Intermediate 1x.

Other big finishes for the ARC and CBASS rowers include:

  • 1st in the Mens Intermediate Ltwt 4x Final
  • 1st in the Womens Junior A 1x
  • 2nd in the Womens Intermediate Ltwt 1x
  • 3rd in the Mens Intermediate 1x
  • 3rd in the Mens Intermediate 2x
  • 3rd in the Mens Intermediate Ltwt 2x, and
  • 3rd in the Mens Junior A 2x.

In two weeks, the CBASS rowers will be heading to Ontario, Canada for the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. We wish them the best!
