The erg is always there.

When you left GT Crew you may have thought your erging days were over. And for some of us, they were. But there are a few who have kept up with the machine and you know what? They're still killing it.

Congrats to GT Crew Alum, Austin Nichols ('07), who won the Open Men's 2k event this past weekend at The Pacific Northwest's Indoor Rowing Championships with a time of 6:06.9. Austin currently rows for Pocock Rowing Center in Seattle, Washington.

And check out this video of GT Crew Alum, Hunter Dreidame ('06) completing a 2k in his gym, CrossFit Palo Alto, with a time of 6:34.6.

And if you didn't know, CrossFit utilizes the erg quite often in their WODs (workout of the day) and we have quite a bit of CrossFit folks coming to the Atlanta Erg Sprints this year. So if any of you are looking for not only a way to get in shape, but also a way to get back on the erg, check out a CrossFit gym and show them how to really use those machines! GTCA Officers Anne-Marie & Cassi recently did a technique seminar at an Atlanta CrossFit gym to hype up the event and to get everyone rowing correctly. It was a great time and definitely a way to get back in the groove of not only erging, but also coaching.

Here are both guys in a 2006 GT Crew Open 4+ race. Stroke is Austin, 3 seat is Hunter. Nice job guys. Keep it up!
