It started out as an overcast Saturday on March 7, 2008 for the Southeastern Regional Collegiate Sprints (SERCS) at Lake Lanier, GA. But the Georgia Tech Crew team did not let it dampen their spirits. Many boats had strong performances that advanced them to finals later in the afternoon. It is only the beginning of the season, but things look promising.

The results are as follows:

Men's 1X: 3rd

Men's Light 4+: 1st and 4th

Men's Collegiate 4+: 1st and 2nd

Men's Novice 8+: 1st and 2nd

Women'sCollegiate 4+: 1st and 4th

Women's Light 4+: 2nd

Women's Novice 4+:1st

Men's Novice 4+: 1st (with a spread of nearly 10 seconds)

Men's Collegiate 2-: 1st

Women's Collegiate 2-: 1st

Men's Collegiate 8+: 1st, 2nd, 4th

Women's Collegiate 8+: 2nd, 3rd

The next day, the team headed back to Lake Lanier to scrimmage Grand Valley University. This is the second time the two teams have scrimmaged and it will likely become a yearly tradition to race the northern crew as they make a short stop on their way back home after spring training in Florida. They proved to be worthy competitors and served as motivation to continue working hard in preparation for more wins.

Congratulations on a great weekend of racing Georgia Tech!
