Michelle started rowing at Georgia Tech in 2004 as a brand new novice. She had never rowed before. In her time at Georgia Tech she won many races as a lightweight and a heavyweight, including winning numerous medals at the Dad Vail Regatta. As a graduate of GT in 2008 - Michelle has moved on to train in Philadelphia with Vesper Boat Club. This past month, Michelle was six seat in the Vesper Lightweight 8+ that won the Head of the Charles. Here is what she has to say about her training and her win:

I raced in the LWT 8+ event at the Charles as six seat with Vesper Boat Club. We won by 19 seconds. We all decided to get out of our singles and have some fun in a big boat before national selection regattas in the spring. We traveled up to Boston the weekend before the Charles to race in the Head of the Kevin which is a time trial for mostly Riverside boats to prep for the Charles. We ended up being the fasted women's eight during that time trial. At the HOCR we started out bow number 10 and passed 3 boats ahead of us during the race.

My LWT 8+ raced again this past weekend in the Champ 8+ category at the Head of the Schuylkill and won by 10 seconds. I raced my single as well and finished 6th.

For the last race of the season I will be racing in the Fall Speed Orders in my single. The race is a 2 mile time trial in Princeton, NJ (November 15th).

We wish you luck Michelle!
