A toast to the beginning of dry season.

Friday March 20th, 2009 - Vol 1, Issue 2

Dear Cassi,

Become a 2009 Inaugural Member!

It's that time of year when the weather is warming up, the sun stays out later and the rowers are going dry. As you're reading this, the rowers are traveling back to Atlanta from our beloved Panama City Beach after finished a week of rowing, sunburns and pranks.

As I sit here in my office building high above Peachtree Street, I can honestly say, I'm a little bit jealous. So, in honor of those that follow in our footsteps, let's raise a glass and toast to their good luck in the spring season.

March Alumni Announcements

Rebecca Woo (1992-1996), finished her ob/gyn residency in Texas in 2007 and then promptly moved to the Netherlands for her husband's job transfer. They have been living there with their two kids and are planning on returning in the next year or so. Rebecca works part time at Landstuhl Army hospital in Germany and wants you to know that if you are in the BeNeLux (or LRMC), give them a shout!

Craig (1997-2002) and Beth Goldstein (2001-2003) would like to announce the birth of their first child, William Karsten Goldstein who was born February 25, 2009 weighing 7 pounds, 6oz.

In addition to announcing wonderful news to our alumni, the GTCA is also trying to help you GET those wonderful news. Which is why we're helping some of our young alumni find a job. It's rough out there and we know it, but this newsletter reaches 300 people and we are hoping some of you can help. If you can offer help to any of our alumni, please send an email to the GTCA.

Austin Nichols (2003-2007) is one of our young alumni looking for a job. Austin is currently training at PennAC to try and make the US Team. His focus is the pair as he competed in the Olympic Trials last year in the same boat. As for work experience, he is a Biomedical Engineer with about a year of work experience and a year of research experience. He's open to all types of engineering and is looking for a job in the Philadelphia area.

A toast...

to the 2009 spring races! This newsletter's witty slogan is "A toast to the beginning of dry season." We were inspired by the pictures of the rowers in PC Beach, pumping it up as we have done every year before now. Here are some photos of the current rowers at Spring Training to get you feeling nostalgic. Look familiar? Some things never change. See more here.

Each newsletter will have a different witty slogan at the top of the email. We'd love to hear your suggestions - all you have to do is fill out this form!

picnic

The GT Crew Affinity Group (GTCA) is organized to promote and facilitate the engagement of GT Crew Alumni, Affiliated Students, Friends, Faculty and Staff with the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, the current Georgia Tech Crew team and the Institute as a whole.

In an effort to keep in touch with all our alumni, we will be sending out this newsletter every other Friday to let you know what we are up to. The easiest way for us to remain in contact with you is for you to continue to receive this newsletter. So please don't unsubscribe unless you really don't want to ever get any information from us. In addition, send it to a fellow teammate, make sure they got it too. If they didn't, they can subscribe right at the bottom of this email. And don't forget, you can always update your bio with us on our website.

Thanks for all you do alumni. We appreciate it and so does the team.

Sincerely,

Cassi Niemann
