The Head of the Charles is the largest three-day regatta in the world. Watch more than 11,000 athletes from around the globe race down the Charles River, with energy pouring from high school, collegiate, elite, and masters rowing teams, and the booming voices of the coxswains as they speed past Elliot Bridge. This Boston tradition is free for all to enjoy. Races run from Friday afternoon through late afternoon on Sunday October 17th–19th.
Boston, Massachusetts was chosen as the site of the Head of the Charles thanks to the river’s sweeping turns and its accessibility to spectators across Cambridge and Boston. In addition to the viewing stands near the finish line by the Eliot Bridge, many opportunities exist to watch crews take on the course: from the Anderson Memorial Bridge, the Weeks Footbridge, or the BU Bridge, to the banks of the Charles Esplanade and the boathouse docks along Memorial Drive. Each offers great vantage points for cheering on GT Crew and capturing memorable photos.
The Head of the Charles Regatta is a 4,800-meter (about 3 miles) head race along the Charles River ending near the Eliot Bridge. Boats are launched at set intervals and compete against the clock, navigating the difficult turns and bridges that make this course one of the most challenging and exciting in the world.
All of our boats will be on Atlanta Junior Rowing Association's trailer in the FALS lot. After the trailer arrives, we'll put a Google Maps pin for the trailer on this page!
